Employers' Liability Insurance

If you employ one or more persons, excluding family members, then it is a legal requirement to have Employer's insurance. This includes part-time workers, contractors, work experience trainees, and voluntary workers.

It will protect you from claims arising from any employees who have accidents at work, or become ill as a result of working under your employment.

The most common claims would be from accidents: general trips and slips, using machinery without the correct safety precautions in place, or lack of training.

Typical claims can run into thousands of pounds. Serious injury can result in claims of the order of hundreds of thousands.

Regulations state that minimum level of cover for an ordinary business is £5,000,000 and can be much higher for more dangerous working environments. Most policies will cover you for £5 million or £10 million as standard.

Combining your Employers' liability Insurance with your other business insurance requirements could save you money and hassle, so Pure Money are here to help you find the best options.

If you employ staff and do not have Employers' Liability Insurance in place then you could be fined up to £2,500 for each day that you are not covered.

You are also required to display your Employers' Liability Insurance certificate clearly visible in your work place. Failure to do so can result in a fine.
